Methodology development
Perspectives methodology development
meeting your demands by adopting approved and developing new methodologies
Tailor-made methodology development is one of Perspectives’ key competencies. We work to achieve the best possible match between maximising your CER/ERU revenues while adhering to the regulative framework. In close cooperation with you, we make sure that the methodologies fully fit the technical and financial requirements of your project. Methodologies developed by Perspectives always build on a unique and robust CER/ERU accounting framework to achieve maximum CER/ERU generation in a sustainable manner, while minimising long-term monitoring costs.
Background:
Emission reduction certificates, and hence the CER/ERU volumes that can be expected from your CDM/JI project idea, need to be calculated on the basis of an approved “methodology”. Therefore, the availability of an approved methodology that is applicable to your project idea is paramount for successful CDM/JI project implementation.
A methodology is a guidebook for the calculation of emission reductions achieved by your CDM/JI project during its operation. Essentially, it is a handbook including numerous formulas and monitoring guidelines. The actual content of a methodology depends on the applicable project type. For example, a methodology for a wind power project looks completely different from a fuel switching methodology.
As the CDM/JI market is based on the principles of accountability and transparency, each CDM methodology needs to be approved by the CDM Executive Board, the international body that decides the CDM rules. Currently, the CDM Executive Board has approved more than 50 methodologies. Methodologies approved by the CDM Executive Board can also be used for JI projects.
In case an approved methodology is not available for your project idea, we will work hand-in-hand with you and help you to get the formal stamp of approval by the CDM Executive Board.
Perspectives has accumulated outstanding expertise in CDM methodology development. Our interdisciplinary staff, with their strong technical backgrounds, have been trained to effectively develop methodologies in close dialogue with our clients.
