Offset project feasibility assessment

Perspectives’ offset project feasibility assessment
We separate the wheat from the chaff

Not all projects that reduce CO2 emissions or other greenhouse gases can be accepted as voluntary offset projects under the high quality standards that we support – and which will have the best chances to reach a high price.

To optimise your economic benefits as a project developer, a reliable independent assessment of the potential of your project idea being developed under the VER Gold Standard or VER+ and the amounts of VERs it will eventually generate is highly recommended.

Due to Perspectives’ extensive experience in CDM/JI feasibility assessment and CDM/JI project management across various types of projects and countries, we have the required expertise to clearly identify the potential of your project idea in terms of the

  • probability of meeting the criteria of the respective standards,
  • estimation of VER volumes to be expected.

The voluntary market is composed of players with self-imposed compensation commitments. It offers, among other things, opportunities for small “niche” emission reduction projects in countries that have not ratified the Kyoto Protocol or that are not based on an approved methodology. Nevertheless, the quality standards for offset projects supported by us apply stringent criteria to the procedures for VERs (“Voluntary Offset”) and therefore demand the same attention with respect to their environmental integrity as the Kyoto-based mechanisms.

In our assessment of offset projects, we use the experience we have gained in the CDM/JI market. Due to the numerous similarities between the procedures for high quality VERs and CERs/ERUs, we benefit from our constant in-depth study of the international carbon markets and the latest decisions on project and methodology approvals of the respective authorities.

In case your VER-project idea is not based on a previously-approved methodology, we will assist you in the development of an adequate methodology.
