Sonja holds a MSc degree in Environmental Sciences and an diploma in Environmental Protection and is Managing Partner at Perspectives. She started working on international climate policies in 1999. Until 2005, she was research fellow at the Hamburg Institute for International Economics and co-founded Perspectives in 2003. From 2006 to early 2007, she worked for the German Environment Ministry (BMU), division Energy and Climate, focussing on UNFCCC related matters, greenhouse gas reporting, the national adaptation strategy process, and other political processes related to energy and climate policy.
At Perspectives, besides the management of the company, she has been heading several Business Fields, such as Climate Policy Advice and UNFCCC Negotiation Support. She has conducted numerous projects for public and private clients, e.g. on CDM reform options, new market mechanisms, NAMAs, innovative energy generation technologies, project finance and adaptation.
