New insights on corresponding adjustments under Article 6

Axel Michaelowa and Aglaja Espelage have contributed to a study analysing key challenges for Article 6 transfers of mitigation outcomes.

Written by Climate Focus and Perspectives, this study aims at making a step toward a better understanding of the several issues covered by Article 6, for example avoidance of double counting, additionality, environmental integrity as well as an enhanced usage of its scope. Taking into account African country contexts, the authors not only provide background information on these issues but also discuss key accounting challenges for Article 6 transfers of mitigation outcomes. In addition, the study seeks to capture and analyze the various options, definitions and questions coming out of the latest negotiations at SB50 in Bonn, and establish a basis for the upcoming negotiations at COP25. It is supported by a grant from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
